About

Dean King graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. After spending three years designing hotels with a local firm in Charlotte, he moved to the Moore County area, got his NC Architecture license, and began work with Pinnacle Development. Now a partner in the company, Dean has spent the last 19 years designing custom homes, multi-family properties, and commercial buildings. During this time, he has also operated as a builder and developer. As a builder, the advantage Dean has in the architectural world is that he knows the building codes, understands the building process and pricing, knows how things actually fit and work in spaces, and how to maximize the most out of any space. So when hiring Dean for your design project, he can conceptualize the project from start to finish, keeping a budget in mind, and understanding what things will and won’t work in any space.

Dean’s Moore County commercial designs consist of the Pinnacle Place mixed-use building on W Penn, The Southern Pines Growler, Hatchet Brewing, The Southern Pines Brewery on Penn, 305 Trackside, Soiree, Moore Floors, Allergy Partners of Pinehurst, and more.

His residential portfolio ranges from million dollar homes in Forest Creek, Beacon Ridge, and Pinehurst #9, to infill cottages all over downtown Southern Pines. One particular residential project that should be noted, is the design, renovation and development of the entire block of 125 year old homes on Page St in Southern Pines. He’s also designed townhome communities such as Hunter’s Ridge, Elk Ridge, the townhomes on Connecticut, to name a few.

When Dean isn’t busy designing or building, he enjoys working on his 1971 Bronco, fishing with his son, playing volleyball with his daughter, working in the yard, renovating old homes, and relaxing in the Low Country with his family.
